Twenty Five Days of Advent: Day 1

Welcome to Sheila's first annual Twenty Five Days of advent of mini devotionals to keep you Christ focused this Christmas Season.

Week One: The Promise of Hope

Day 1: The Light in the Darkness

Scripture: "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned." Isaiah 9:2

Devotional: Advent begins with a promise: a light shines in the darkness, and that light is Jesus. The world may seem consumed by shadow—brokenness, sorrow, uncertainty—but Christ entered into the darkness to bring life and hope. The light of Christ isn’t just a distant glow; it’s a beacon that leads us out of despair and into His presence.

This Advent season, reflect on how Jesus has been a light in your life. Are there areas where darkness still lingers? Ask Him to shine His light into your heart, dispelling fear, doubt, and worry.

Action Step: Write down one area in your life where you need God’s light to shine. Pray and ask for His guidance, trusting His promise to lead you.

Quote: "Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness." – Desmond Tutu
